About This Quote

The pit, in this quote, is a grave. But, what is really disturbing is the fact that there is nothing to mourn here. We feel saddened because we cannot see the body of the beloved one who has died. But, if we allow ourselves to get close enough to the dead body, then we will see that it is really a piece of rock.

This rock cannot be touched or moved. It cannot be felt through its existence. The only thing that can be done is to cry for what has been lost.

The rock provides a way for us to express our grief without touching or moving anything else.
